Go see Spike Lee's new movie

BlackkKlansman. It is based on a true story and the best movie I've seen in a long time. It is also tied to present day politics, although it is based on a story from the 1970's.

1. I saw an interview with Lee

before the recent White Supremacist's Rally and he said that the country has never come to terms with the slavery issue in this country. Also, until we address slavery all the way back to the Founding Fathers and how this country was built on slavery racial attitudes in the US won't change. He makes a damn good point.

2. He's right.

The orange one is all about giving voice to racism and normalizing bigotry and hatred aimed at people with other than white European ancestors.

I don't know if the 30% or so of white supremacists will ever change their attitudes. One hopes they will die off, as it seems younger people are much more wiling to be tolerant and accepting of people of color or LGBTQ who don't fit the hierarchy of white male supremacy.

Spike Lee's movie is brilliant. I expect a number of Academy Award nominations.
