I was amused earlier - they were showing film of Cohen waiting outside the FBI building to turn himself in. They had to be expecting him, had put out barriers around noon, but they made him wait outside in full view of all the cameras and media. Everybody got some great shots of Cohen cooling his heels.

Cooperating or not cooperating, that is the key phrase. If he's taken a plea as a cooperating witness Trump is going to Tweet storm until his head explodes tonight.

Think about this if Manafort also is convicted today. The President's Campaign head and his lead personal attorney will both be convicted felons by night fall. It doesn't get closer to Trump than those 2, one headed his campaign for Presidency, the other was his own personal attorney for years.

So in this case, Cohen didn't just volunteer; he did have a clear reason to make the deal, as did SDNY. But yes, you can just plead guilty if you want to.

My DC attorney daughter just get text from friend of hers at Manhattan federal court -- Cohen to plead quilty at 4:00 PM, possibly to using campaign funds to payoff a woman . . . plea may lead directly to Trump.

It looks like Michael Cohen will plead guilty at 4 p.m. ET today. During what is called a "change of plea" hearing, we will find out the charge to which he's pleading guilty as well as the plea agreement he has with prosecutors. Cohen will also acknowledge that he is guilty.

It is the Federal Court of the Southern District of New York. It is not New York State Court. It is a Federal Court and a Federal Charge, so it is still possible that Trump might Pardon Cohen. If Cohen rats on Trump, though, do not expect a Pardon. This is still going to be played out one way or another. It is not known at this time whether Cohen will cooperate with the Feds against Trump, or whether he will remain silent and accept his fate.
