(8,678 posts)That's good enough as I suspect that means guilty on those 8.

(4,139 posts)They were able to reach a unanimous verdict on the 8 counts where they though he was not guilty and then there are one or two who are holding out for a guilty or not guilty verdict in the other 10 (I would guess the holdouts are for not guilty).
For a case that looked like a slam dunk, this is not looking good.

(8,678 posts)There is no way a jury in Alexandria Virginia would vote unanimously not guilty on any of the counts against this criminal.

(43,182 posts)Or is he going to call it a hung jury on those 10 and let them read out for the 8?

(13,424 posts)I suspect the Gates related charges may comprise the 10 hung counts.

(10,952 posts)tank the case and essentially threw the documents at the jurors to figure things out on their own I never expected to sweep all charges with guilty verdicts.
I have got to hope that the jurors will come back with some guilty verdicts.

(6,324 posts)Could go either way, but if they have a decision on 8 Im leaving toward those being not guilty verdicts.
I hope Im wrong.

(1,089 posts)The jury was unanimous on those 8 counts, so I'm thinking the opposite.

(6,324 posts)Thats how it works.

(4,533 posts)I read earlier today that a juror in a restaurant told those with him that they had decided on 9 counts but were hung on others. Now news reports say something similar. If the juror blabbed in the restaurant isnt that grounds for mistrial?

(19,066 posts)If they just said something like that probably not, if they went into details of deliberations, probably.

(36,307 posts)I was lurking there earlier today and saw that.

(4,533 posts)But it was there hours before the news report, so maybe its true. That would be horrible.

(36,307 posts)Where I person I never heard of tweeted that an unnamed friend had lunch with an unnamed juror at an unnamed restaurant over the weekend and the deliberations were discussed.
Cicada
(4,533 posts)The alleged restaurant blabbing said guilty on nine, hung on rest. Reality guilty on 8 hung on rest. That is so similar that it sounds true to me. So maybe a mistrial and they retry Manafort.
More bad publicity for Trump.

(19,066 posts)If there was 1 lone bought juror who was going to be not guilty no matter what on all 18 counts, they could agree unanimously not guilty on 8, and then he could hold out on the other 10.

(1,089 posts)on those 8 counts tells me they're voting to convict. I hope I'm right.

(28,798 posts)that's not right. someone bought or threatened or otherwise influenced someone on that jury.
justice doesn't exist. people caught with a gram of pot go to prison for years. the woman who kills my daughter is out in a little over 2. and these rich fucking scofflaws well they just walk. and we pick up the tab for it all.

(28,798 posts)i think once all of his court days are over he'll be pardoned.
but in context you're right. if justice was obtainable 8 convictions should put him away for the rest of his life.
