As the regular panel of legal analyst came up though, it was amazing to see he change her tone, that this was no victory for Manafort

(115,734 posts)but a hung jury on some counts means only that some but not all jurors (maybe only one) thought he wasn't guilty. And he can be retried on those counts.

I understand your point Ocelot between hung verses acquitted, but the impression I got when that reporter gave her initial take was that the hung jury was a partial victory, which is the opposite of what you are saying

(115,734 posts)and don't usually give consecutive sentences, so it might not make any difference as to the total sentence. Also, the government could decide to retry him on those charges so he can't count on not being sentenced for those crimes. If it's a victory it's arguably only a technical one.
