And those fucking hydro damns never shut up.

Making having coal, of which America has near unlimited reserves for domestic use, is a "national security" issue is just another plank in their Ship of Fear.

But forgive him...having a very, very bad day, is Shitler.

Coal bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Coal never fails, but where there are solar panels, they will be blown up; where there are windmills, they will be knocked over; where there is natural gas, it will pass away.

because coal is more expensive to produce than natural gas so they close down the mines. But you can still eat the coal.

What a fucking idiot.

6. The World's Oldest Underground Coal Fire Has Been Burning For 6,000 Years
Tue Aug 21, 2018, 07:29 PM
Aug 2018

If you've heard of underground coal fires, then you've probably heard of the one raging under the abandoned town of Centralia, Pennsylvania, since 1962. Fifty-two years is a long time—and a lot of coal—but that's barely a blink compared to Burning Mountain in Australia, which has been ablaze for 6,000 years.

Coal seam fires are incredibly common, as it happens, and thousands of them are now burning underground across the world. A coal seam some 700 miles south of Australia's Burning Mountain caught fire a month ago, spewing poisonous gases and prompting intense firefighting efforts. Once an subterranean coal seam fire gets out of hand—as in Centralia, as in Burning Mountain—it's nearly impossible to put out.

One could take out a couple of critical bridges in Kansas and take out the Powder River Basin coal for weeks to a big chunk of the nation's coal plants. The piles would deplete. I know two bridges that would accomplish this … Just sayin!

when coal gets pissed off about being moved, sometimes it just brings down the mountain and the killer-owners claim that it was not their fault - and sometimes even run for governor just to be out there to "protect" those miners.

Oh, and I lost family members, including my Father, to black lung.

I've always loved this song, especially The Journeymen's version. Scott McKenzie's (of "If You're Going to San Francisco" fame) lilting voice on this is haunting. They credit Merle in their intro. Thanks for the re-visit to Merle's rendition.
