When President. Nixons Lawyer revealed his criminal activities, it took another year to get rid of him.

(90,703 posts)Dug up all the evidence, published it, had him resign. Got Gerald Ford to accept being VP -- I remember the story told later that the committee of shaken Republicans said to Ford: "For God's sake, Gerry, search your conscience."
All along I have had my fingers crossed that Pence and Trump wll go in the same sequence. Sadly, the difference being they are both crazy, each in a different fashion. Pence thinks God talks to him, and that will make him a difficult nut to crack.
Praying for Mueller's continued success

(14,565 posts)Joseph McCarthy's approval rating was 34% three months after he was censured by the senate.
My dad emphasized that to me decades ago, that McCarthy's supporters did not abandon him even long after the obvious. Dad said that during Watergate to warn me that Nixon supporters likewise would stay with him.
I never heard a specific quote on the McCarthy approval rating until a historian mentioned it tonight on Lawrence O"Donnell

It's that simple.

People who hate Trump will still hate him.
And Republicans will remain frozen stiff and terrified of Trump.
All this talk of this being a game changer is nonsense.
