13. I have a lot to say about this.

I know it was probably posted sarcastically or facetiously, but I think there's some merit to it.

Q: What did President Obama do that contributed to all the negative discourse and all the actions that the far-right has perpetrated?

A: He got elected--twice.

Of course, that's not a crime. It's not immoral. It's not an abomination. The only classification it can be given is that it was the will of the American people.

However, I do think his presidency energized a segment of the electorate that will do ANYTHING to make sure that no person of color and no person with a vagina will ever again sit in the oval office.

They will tell blatant lies.

They will pass tax cuts that benefit only the people that will donate to conservative campaigns and Super PACs.

They will purge the voter roles.

They will gerry-mander the voting districts.

They will bribe lobbyists. They will pay hush money to anyone who can hurt them politically.

They will keep political asylum seekers from entering the country.

They will throw out the Dreamers.



So while my language about things being President Obama's fault is most likely the incorrect terminology because in this sense he did nothing wrong--and he certainly didn't force any of these people to behave in such a despicable manner--I do think his election is part of the catalyst of all this.

I'm sorry if I worded this wrong. I'm not trying to excuse anyone or their behavior. I do think there's a discussion to be had about all of it. So please don't flame me.
