Ready?
Here we go
You know what bothers me? I have people coming to me, some people in Congress sir, can you get this deal done immediately?'
He then said that the deal wouldnt be any good if he did that because its gotta gestate. The word gestate.'
The president continued on, Like when you are cooking a chicken. Time
Time
Turkey for Thanksgiving.
Then Trump said this: My mother would say 8 hours. I said 8 hours?
She made the greatest turkey I ever had. It takes time. It takes time. So when they run and say can you do NATO right now, can you sign it next week? I say, wait a minute
I like Mexico. I like the new leader. I think hes gonna be terrific. A little different than us. I think I am doing better with him than with the capitalist. But he knows Mexico needs the United States.
NATO...Mexico?
Obrador isn't even in office yet in Mexico
"The capitalist"
Gestate?

THIS is what a breakdown looks like, folks.

What he said makes no sense. He has lost it. Surely, that quote was not on the teleprompter.

I'm gonna try that chicken to turkey recipe for Thanksgiving. A magical 8 hours!

This may be the most rational thing he's said in months. Who wouldn't agree?

(182,819 posts)Cohen grew up surrounded by Russians in Brighton Beach. His nickname is "Tom" as in Tom Hagen (Robert Duvall) in "The Godfather". Cohen was the link to Russian money that saved Trump.

(58,785 posts)Oh, dear. I'm sober again. These incompetent grifters would still be looking for opportunities to launder money for more competent criminals, including the Russian mafia, if it weren't for the terrifying rise of social conservatives and fascistic authoritarianism on the right.

(18,402 posts)Glad I didn't go to his mother's for Thanksgiving. Granted, she was making turkey before convection ovens and before other methods for roasting a turkey (beginning on a high heat and then reducing). But even at the lowest temperature you would roast a turkey, eight hours is way beyond the max you could roast the largest turkey available without turning it to shoe leather. Here's the official USDA chart:

Okay, this may have been the least egregious misstep in his cuckoo, meandering diatribe. But it's just one more indication of how he blows things out of his turkey hole.

As smene else pointed out he started talking about chicken and then turkeys. So apparently his mother could turn chickens into turkeys in ONLY 8 hours

(12,659 posts)Mom told me her mother taught her to brine a market turkey at Thanksgiving to make sure there's no worms or other nasty things in the meat before you roasted it. Of course, with a bird of any size, you brined it for at least 12 hours, so there was typically another four hours or so left if you started it on an overnight brine. Same with a market chicken, though one only brines those for between four and six hours.
Back before flash freezing in the packing houses, a reliable butcher who got you clean meat was often difficult to find, especially in cities.
If you got your meat fresh from the farm or a neighbor (Mom grew up in South-West L.A. with victory gardens and neighbors who raised chickens and rabbits during WWII), you could depend on your meat being pretty much just what you expect.
I still brine my chicken and turkey before roasting or pan-frying.
On edit - I doubt his mother ever slaved over the Thanksgiving meal; the cook did all the work while maybe Madame Trump "oversaw" the meal preparation. And turning a chicken into a turkey? Methinks he's spewing out a stream of consciousness babble similar to a five year old that wants to keep Grammy's attention on them.
