Trump on Wednesday accused Michael Cohen of making up stories to "get a 'deal'" after the former Trump lawyer implicated the president in a campaign finance case.
Trump said in a tweet he has "such respect" for his former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, who was convicted on eight counts of bank and tax fraud, because he did not "break" like Cohen by providing damaging information to prosecutors.
"I feel very badly for Paul Manafort and his wonderful family. 'Justice' took a 12 year old tax case, among other things, applied tremendous pressure on him and, unlike Michael Cohen, he refused to 'break' make up stories in order to get a 'deal.' Such respect for a brave man!" he wrote.
Trump in another tweet claimed the charges to which Cohen pleaded guilty "are not a crime" and argued that former President Obama was guilty of similar "violations."

(52,243 posts)why else "lie" to get a "deal"? it's a bad deal for cohen unless he's actually guilty of even more crimes.
in theory he could be perfectly innocent, i know people get railroaded into pleas, but donnie wouldn't be saying that cohen lied to get a deal if he really thought cohen was innocent.

Idiot Trump only perceives a single binary dimension
and cannot even grok a few moves ahead.

(10,023 posts)Trump admitted to paying Cohen back after the fact. Trump knows at least some of the potential tangible evidence that might still exist.
I would love to see a list of everyone that signed NDAs (enforceable or not). Anyone that signed a NDA would be suspect of concealing information detrimental to Trump.
