'This is not how a president comports himself': GOP big donors are reportedly abandoning Trump

BOB BRIGHAM
22 AUG 2018 AT 15:51 ET

Major Republican donors are discontinuing their support of President Donald Trump, New York Times reporter Jeremy Peters revealed Wednesday.

“Just talked to one of Trump’s earliest supporters & true believers – very rattled – who’s been talking to big GOP donors,” Peters reported.

“They want to support Trump. They tried hard to ignore all the noise. They can’t anymore,” he noted. “They’re over it,” the former Trump supporter told Peters.

“This is not how a president comports himself,” he added.

What happened yesterday that hasn't been obviously coming down the pipeline for more than a year?

The truth is that they've gorged themselves on deregulation like leaches on a drowning dog and are now they're detaching and looking for a new host.

campaign finance violations make donations a special problem. If they give him money, how do they know he won't spend it on hush money? Now that his financial practices are being investigated, how do they that they themselves won't be caught up in a scandal?

Either way, pootie-poot wins for having installed Cheeto Benito in office, even if he doesn't complete a single term. The seeds are sown, and if Russian money and support were to dry up completely and tRump were left to twist in the wind, the political and economic fallout still accomplish the goal of destabilizing the 'beacon of western democracy.'

They won't even allow their names to be used, fearless captains of capitalism that they are. "They want to support Trump." And they still do, even while they bleat about how they just can't anymore.

Since he started his campaign, he has never comported himself like a president. What on earth did they expect? This is who he is and who he has always been. Are they really that dense?

Money that can be tied to them gets used illegally and their name gets associated with the crime!
And, if too much heat comes, and the dems control the House, the agenda is derailed
For them, it's time to pick up the chips & go home.

They're just afraid Santa Trump might not be able to deliver the goodies much longer.

Give them another tax cut, cut more regulations, put more business-friendly judges on the bench, and he can wiggle his willie during the State of the Union address, for all they care.
