NELSON - Wake Up for Christ's sake

Last edited Thu Aug 23, 2018, 01:54 PM - Edit history (1)

Florida is in danger of having two Repuke Senators and that would almost guarantee Trump's freedom in case of impeachment. Scott (soon to be our ex-gov) is going to run against Nelson who seems to be in a political coma. Already Scott is crushing Nelson in fundraising and has the sleaze support of the Koch evil brothers.

Keep in mind Scott is the crook who:

Headed a company that swindled stole $1.7 BILLION in Medicare payments
Was dead set against "ObamaCare" expansion in Florida
Is a friend of the sugar industry which is now being held up as a major contributor to the "Green Tide" devastating the coastline of Florida killing sea-life
Tried to block anti-gerrymandering initiatives after being approved by voters
Cut down on early voting and voter registration
Attempted to purge voter rolls weeks before an election and was stopped by courts
Is a vocal and true friend of the Orange Orangutan in the WH

Unfortunately, I believe Scott , regardless of his shortcomings will be elected because Nelson is just too weak and invisible at this point.

Feels the same way as you do. He tells my friend that Nelson's performance in this race is horrible, and that the law-breaking alien's talking rings around Nelson. I haven't really been following this race because I feared from the very beginning that what you outline in your post and what the brother told my friend would be happening. I mean, that state's already compromised as far as Dems being able to vote there with confidence is concerned, but throw this on top of that.

Right Nelson is barely eeking out a lead with the Hispanic voters here in Florida, which is insane. If he cannot get a commanding lead with that group of voters then his chances are nil. Scott has a ton of baggage and will vote party line every time. I cannot believe that Nelson hasn't hammered Scott for the Red Tide issue, it's decimating beach communities all along the West Coast. I live about a block from Clearwater Beach and they are anticipating the Red Tide hitting here this weekend, and it will close the beach, and kill most of the fish in the area. Scott repealed numerous environmental laws that were in place to stop this type of situation. I just don't see Nelson winning this unless something really bizarre happens in the next two months that rocks the Scott campaign. I'm fairly certain that Scott will run for President in 2020 if Dotard is gone, if he lost the Senate race that would hurt his chances at President

Cared for Nelson whose always come off as uninspiring and dry to me. I just did a bit of reading, and you tell me that he's not doing enough to connect with the Hispanic voters in Florida. The alien's a criminal who Nelson should be hammering on a whole host of extremely important things but he isn't. The alien's a criminal, and is a hideous speaker, but he does know how to do/stage photo ops, speak Spanish, lie and he has tons of money to burn in his race vs Nelson. I guess the alien only has to keep doing what he's doing as Nelson continues to make himself more irrelevant and uninspiring with each passing day. Hell, I guess it's a miracle that Nelson's this close considering.

8. Nelson apparently believes all he has to do is show up on the airwaves for 6 weeks

Foolish strategy versus the bankroll, energy and momentum of this particular opponent

Scott may have been wise to portray Nelson as old and past his expiration date, because that's the way Nelson has approached this race. Even as sitting senator you've got to do more than this. Pretend you care.

Right now I'm more interested in the governor race. At least our candidates appear to be trying.

6. There is no question Rick Scott has redefined himself and is dictating this race

It may be inconceivable from afar but that's how it has played out. Scott used those Florida tragedies the past few years to develop a campaign-type style that comes across as the voice of the people. Floridians now view him as someone standing there wearing a baseball cap at the scene of the most recent major event, and speaking out on their behalf. Obviously it is bullshit but image is everything. I knew his approval ratings would soar.

I am hardly giving up on this race. Nelson has yet to be heard from. Year with Democratic tilt. But if forced to wager at even money right now I would take Scott.

Go kick the asses of the inexcusably uninvolved and immoral, not those politically worth 10,000 of each of the others.

And, btw, maybe pass on the word to Nelson about just how you managed the miracle of infusing truth and duty into people who deserve the Republicans.

10. FAU poll demonstrates how bad it is

Scott leads 45-39. That's his largest lead. I realize this seems difficult to believe from afar, but here in Miami it couldn't be more obvious. Scott has been bombarding Nelson on every channel for months while Nelson has been all but invisible. I can't believe Nelson's camp didn't understand they couldn't afford this type of tactic, not when Scott picked up so much momentum and boost to his approval numbers based on how he was perceived to have handled several Florida crisis in 2016 and 2017.

https://business.fau.edu/departments/economics/business-economics-polling/bepi-polls/bepi-polls-2018/desantis-and-putnam-in-dead-heat.php

"In a potential US Senate ballot test, Governor Rick Scott saw his numbers tick up a point from 44% to 45% and Bill Nelson saw his numbers tick down from 40% to 39%. 16% were undecided. (n=800, margin of error is +/-3.4 percentage points).

"Driving Scott’s lead is his popularity in Florida with a 48% approval and 33% disapproval, 16% were undecided. Senator Nelson has a 35% approval and 36% disapproval. Among Independent voters Scott leads 44% to 25% in the ballot test."

11. With the damage Scott did to Florida, it's amazing he's polling that high

I know Bill Nelson slightly, and it's true, he IS getting a little old. But he's our incumbent, and he's our candidate. I think the DSCC is eying some help in the next 2 months.

12. He used the tragedies like Pulse and Irma to change his image

Every station had him on multiple times per day, standing there in regular Joe clothes wearing a baseball cap and emphatically stating what needed to be done.

It was maddening because it was bullshit but you could see how effective it would be. I'm not surprised by his +15 approval net at all. Every time I hear locals mention Scott nowadays it is in positive terms. They either don't know about his past or his priorities or don't care. Rick Scott is now the guy saving our homes from hurricane damage.

The approval ratings from that FAU poll should be reversed. Nelson partially allowed it to happen by apparently taking this race for granted.

I really don't know how he pulls this out, unless the national tide increases and is just enough to shove Nelson over the top despite all of Nelson's errors.
