Connecticut Governor - Democrat Lamont holds big early lead

Kind of a surprise considering that outgoing Democrat Dan Malloy is one of the least popular governors in the country and he only won his two races by very narrow margins. As a state resident, I had considered this race a Lean R because of that unpopularity.

Democrat Ned Lamont leads Republican Bob Stefanowski by a 46- to 33-percent margin in the first major poll of the gubernatorial race in Connecticut.

“The poll is good news for Ned Lamont,” said Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz. “This is mainly due to strong support among women, and the fact that Connecticut is a Democratic state.”

But Schwartz stressed that the general-election campaign is barely a week old, and there are a significant number of undecided voters.
