I'll respect McCain's last battle by not trashing him, but as for Justice Thomas, McConnell, Limbaugh, and 1,000 other Repuke legislators, propagandists, apologists, etc...the DU's "Let's be classy, better than the other guys" crowd can go fuck themselves when the above mentioned names start their journeys to hell.

(102,343 posts)I actually had to professionally interview Cheney prior to the VP. He came across as evil personified to me.

Nothing good to say about the father.

(102,343 posts)Unlike McCain, who I feel has lived his life with considerable honor and redeeming qualities. I vehemently disagreed with him, but I could never feel the same about him as I do Trump and Cheney.
As for W, I genuinely think I might like his daughters if I met them. Neither seemed to comport themselves as self-entitled and seem to be nice people. Mary Cheney perhaps as well, but her Father is just beyond defending to me and heaven knows Liz has acquired all his most ugly attitudes and traits.
Some people are beyond any form of compassion or respect.
And as you said, there are people like GW where I'll remain silent for a reasonable period of time, but history will not.

Deep down even they can finally be good people.

(28,082 posts)no crocodile tears from the people who had opposed her politics while she was prime minister. Glenda Jackson, then an M.P. gave an outstanding speech in the House of Commons about the damage Maggie had done. It would have been nice if just one Democrat had had the spine to stand up and speak the truth about Reagan when he died. (And just wait, they won't tell the truth about W or Trump when they go either.)
Glenda Jackson on her remarks about Thatcher:
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/glenda-jackson-on-the-death-of-margaret-thatcher-i-had-to-speak-out-to-stop-history-being-re-written-8569392.html
...She was unrepentant about her attack on the heinous social, economic and spiritual damage which she said that Mrs Thatcher had wreaked upon the UK during her premiership, which caused uproar when she delivered it. Many Tories were particularly outraged by her comment: The first Prime Minister of female gender, OK. But a woman? Not on my terms.
But Ms Jackson insisted: I was meticulous in not being personally rude. I didnt know the woman: I did know the policies. I spoke up because history has been rewritten over the past week. I lived through the Thatcher period. I know what it was like. I know what it was like for my constituents. The reality bore no resemblance to whats being presented.
She said she was also struck by the way the tributes are being led by the Conservatives, when it was the Conservative leadership that sacked Margaret Thatcher in 1990. Thats another thing the manner of her going hasnt been touched on. I find that bemusing, she said.
