foreign power, because those issues are more important to them.

Regardless, how one looks at this poll, and it is good more disapprove, that 40% of the populous actually approve should be a concern for everyone

A democracy is only as healthy as the electorate, and far too many American voters are afflicted with an illness which is very difficult to cure.

Trump is a symptom, not the disease.

reasons for supporting trump since before the election are varied, but let's face it some core normal reasoning/ character is missing and they were aptly named a basket of deplorables imo

Concern that they can continue to amass once he as a figurehead is gone is real and it's not all over with trump gone.
I always heard for years before trump these kind ,all this , will die out soon but look at the marches, some churches , and the support drummed up on college campuses and in rural sections - it's multi generational and very active and make up at minimum a third of voters

If Trump's job approvals keep dropping as more damaging revelations come out regarding the Cohen case, Republicans will have trouble defending their seats and Trump as well.

Then there is the 2nd Manafort trial that is more Russia related.

Is not tuned into the news 24/7. They get their information in dribs and drabs, a little on the news, some from headlines and over the water cooler. So their in-depth knowledge about what is really going on day to day with tRump is limited. Once things get out with Mueller’s investigation and various court cases get decided, I think we will see a big shift in support away from tRump. As more of the unsavory stuff is made public (another pay off, an unacknowledged child resulting from an affair) things are going to get more and more difficult for tRump. And how long before Melania gets fed up enough to leave him? Can they keep that a secret? Not for long, I’ll Bet.

So the numbers on the polls don’t surprise me yet. As long as they are trending downward, I will accept that. Once they find out how morally bankrupt their King is, most will leave him and deny they ever voted for him. A small, hardened core (like the center of a blackhead) will stay with him to the bitter end. He will cling to them, too, as he struggles to stay relevant. It won’t help him, but he will try.
