is preachers telling their congregants they know what a supreme being wants or does not want, or does or does not do.

Perhaps the second most cruel is suggesting that giving money to them or a church is part of the pathway to prosperity or an afterlife.

Any human on this planet that says whatever god or gods happen to exist in the universe give a damn about life on this spec of dust we're on is either poorly informed, insane or a criminal in my view - after 70 years of both participation, and then subsequent observation. Typically, it really is a form of evolutionary human mental illness fueled by unwarranted fears and there will be strains of it as long as we survive on earth.
