People need heroes in difficult times and McCain had heroic qualities that are utterly absent in Donald Trump. While many people like myself have deeply mixed feelings about McCain, it is inevitable that the sharp contrast between the complex McCain and the utterly depraved Donald Trump will turn McCain into an icon of heroism.
I think that's for the best. I guess we'll see.

(4,426 posts)The more McCains passing is covered and the more revered he is, the more unhinged Trump will become. He is already beginning to lose it on Twitter. He is a very sick personality.

(10,272 posts)McCain was a politician and a Republican to his core.
But he didn't hate us and I THINK he thought he should be able to win on the merits of the argumentative points.
He was willing to lose the argument for the sake of the democratic Greater Good.
And that means a lot to me.

Even Fox has had more, and more positive, coverage than expected.
Its a ray of sanity for people who wont miss a chance to run Trjmps nose in civility. And Trump dispised McCain who is more respected than Trump could ever be.
