"The Ghosts of Langley" reveals John McCain was a hero in ways most of us don't know

I just happen to be reading a book right now called THE GHOSTS OF LANGLEY by John Prados, about some of the dark, shameful secrets of the CIA. In the prologue, it talks about rendition and black sites and torture, and how John McCain defied the Bush Administration and the CIA regarding torture.

In an attempt to sustain CIA interrogation, (CIA director Porter) Goss, Dick Cheney, and Counter Terrorism Chief Robert Grenier met with McCain, trying to convince him that their interrogation techniques were necessary.

(CIA director Porter) Goss had been McCain's friend on Capitol Hill but, as Goss said later, "I got nowhere. I don't think John even heard a thing I told him. He just sat there, stonefaced and looking straight ahead, like he didn't know me. No questions, no comments, nothing. When I was done he just said, 'It's all torture,' and got up and left."

God, we will miss this man.

... McCain lived being tortured for five years. He did not need torture porn videos like Cheney or little bush to feel like alpha macho men.
