I agree! If they want to spend their money supporting the GOP that is their right. If I choose not to support their business that is my right!In-N-Out Burger is shaking up social media this week but not in a good way: Its $25,000 donation to the California Republican Party has led some people to call for a boycott of the burger chain.
An image from the California secretary of states website recording the Aug. 27 donation was making the rounds on Twitter.

(38,958 posts)as commented in a previous thread about this topic a couple of days ago. I cannot understand why a business would get involved in politics as you are likely to tick off one side or the other. Owners, Managers, Employees making donations are certainly well within their right to do so, but the business itself, particularly one in this level of contact with the public is simply asking for trouble.

(251 posts)Donations usually get favors - especially with this administration! I too wish I had one to boycott. I do eat there when I travel but not anymore. They're on my list right there with chick fil a and Carl Jr/Hardee's.

(16,311 posts)The bottom of the cups have John 3:16 printed on them. That's a reference to salvation, they believe that anyone can go to heaven if they are sorry and love Jesus. Anyone.
Aaron Hernandez (the murderer and ex-nfl player) had John 3:16 written on his forehead when he killed himself, fundy xtians think he's in heaven right now.

(14,565 posts)Unfortunately no Whataburgers close to me in Miami. They don't reach below northern Florida. But every year when I attend the Players Championship golf tournament in Jacksonville I intentionally book a hotel right around the corner from Whataburger.
Then after the golf concludes for the day I drive smack there and bring a huge bagful back to my hotel room. I get enough for dinner, and also a heated up midnight feast in the microwave.

3. Reasonable prices.
4. Treats and pays employees well.
Sorry. You'll have to pry my Double-Double from my cold dead hand.
Besides, I am much more concerned with who Democrats take donations from rather than who donates to Republicans.

Kidlet's spouse attempted to hire on a year ago, but he's a 25 year old whose been "out of high school" since 19 with no job history or college (he's always getting under the table cash only jobs as part of the family management company or quitting before he's worked a month) and his HS GPA was lower by a few points than the number they required for their part time employees. Especially since they offer education benefits once the employee goes full time; they want to ensure their employee is reliable and wants to work.
Costco (another good employer) would hire him, but In N Out wouldn't.
The In N Out down the freeway from me has quite a bit of diversity - racial and religious (two of the employees wear headscarves). It's in a very diverse neighborhood - lots of immigrants and refugees - with a growing population of younger people.

(10,136 posts)It's less than $5,000 per congressional district. Divvy it up among all the GOP candidates for federal, state, and local offices and it may be enough for a bunch of yard signs.
I do like their food, don't eat it often. And once again, no, they do not print Bible verses on their packaging: they print a reference to a verse on the underside of cups and containers, which I suppose one could look up, but it's not an in-your-face thing. Unlike Hobby Lobby they are not forcing a belief system on anyone, and from what I've read they try to walk the walk by treating their employees fairly.

(4,238 posts)whose owners aren't GOP supporters. I don't eat fast food often, but on those rare occasions when I do crave a burger, it's In-n-Out. They pay their employees better than their competitors, joints are usually clean, and their burgers are damn good (fries, not so much.)

(90,686 posts)I ate a lot of them while on the road moving house last year. Sadly, my cholesterol took a major jump, so I am off In-N-Out for the indefinite future.
But boycott? That remains to be seen.
