(41,963 posts)Watching Bill up there with those black men, Farrakhan, Sharpton, Jackson, reminds me how much he really was and is loved.

(88 posts)His presence is a blemish on an otherwise uplifting send off to the Queen of Soul.

(6,228 posts)I have seen Bill up next to the podium, but not Hillary. She must be in the crowd somewhere.

(27,811 posts)Hill and Bill look comfortable and relaxed. I'm glad they are there. And big kudos to BET; when I got up, the Turtle was speaking on one of the networks and a shudder ran through me until my BF changed the channel.
It says a lot about Obama that he went to McCain's funeral, BTW.

(62,270 posts)Hillary Clinton won the primaries due to the AA community, which had a lot of dog whistling over it, since southern states tend to go red.

(27,811 posts)and the wonderful African American woman who cooks there (and who turned off CNN and put on BET) leaned over and whispered to me how much she and her family loved Bill Clinton.

(23,314 posts)Watching all these people who loved Aretha being REAL. Some of them smiling ear to ear, some of them not keeping it together at all, one man nodding off... It's all okay and it's all genuine. My husband just walked into my office when I was having a tearful moment and he asked my I had the funeral on when "it just makes you feel bad". Ugh. Sometimes I just want to be able to feel what I feel. Sad things are sad and sometimes a good cry is just what is needed.
