I just have too much to say and want to hear all yall too. Maybe we can gather here as they're gathered there.
Much Respect, Queen Aretha.

(41,963 posts)I am the worst atheist in the world maybe but I love gospel, and I love that song. And his heart was on the floor.

(22 posts)"Who would watch six hours worth of a funeral ceremony? Anyone with even half beat in their soul. I turned on Aretha's funeral and thought that I'd just watch a little bit, and hours later, can't stop watching. So many highlights, both in word, song and yes, the lifting of one's heart. Loved Cicely Tyson. Gladys Knight just sang "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and Stevie Wonder has played a harmonica number and is now speaking. And Jennifer Holliday just blew her pipes out on the final musical piece! Bring that woman some ice water to cool them down, right now! All my love to Aretha, and 𝙨𝙤𝙤𝙤 proud of our city, Detroit."
On top of being a wonderful tribute to Aretha, "Queen of Soul", and good for the soul of anyone watching, one could make an argument that this was the best musical event of the year....

I always found it interesting that her signature song was written by Otis, who I always felt was the King of Soul. No disrespect to James intended.
