So it is nearly Labor Day, and what is that about is what we are talking about down here at the diner. Flo brought us some coffee and said something about it is being about not being the first of May. That is the kind of thing that Flo says that doesn't make any sense because nearly every day is not the first of May but Labor Day is not nearly every day. I mean, nearly every day is not Labor Day, if you can catch my meaning. Flo did not catch my meaning so she just sniffed
I said Labor Day is when you order pizza and beer and shoot the empties off each otherses heads for fun to celebrate being American and better than the others who aren't. "Pizza on Labor Day? Why? Because Pizza Shack delivers?" asks Flo but walking away. Being pretty sure she was rolling her eyes, I did not ask what she was talking about
But what I want to talk about is how with all this political correctness it is ruining Labor Day because now some people are saying you can't be white after Labor Day. When did everybody start thinking this? So Flo comes back with my grilled cheese plus extra catsup. She says I should stop listening to the Cyclops. I try to explain that I used to have a cyclops to ride to school years ago until somebody left it out in the rain and it got rusty but I never heard it say anything even when I talked to it now and then when nobody else was around but Flo is in one of those moods of hers and doesn't really care what I say today
Anyway it is good the president does not care what you are before or after Labor Day, unless you are a reporter or a democrat or a mexican or somebody nobody ever heard of who died and is getting too much attention now. So we should support him

(12,654 posts)He was a reasonably functional schizophrenic who spoke and wrote in 9 languages fluently, but still believed to his core that it was 1948 and he was going to finally get out of his room and be the head state's campaign manager in California for Dewey, because that's what his well off grandparents expected him to do with all his smarts.
And then they'd pay for him go to Paris and become a famous novelist like Arthur Miller. He had two huge manuscripts ready to go...they just needed a bit of polish
He was telling me this when I packed him and what was left of his belongings in the long-bed F-150 I owned at the time for the 300 mile trip to take him off to his estranged father and 4th spouse just after New Year's day in 1988, after Grandma, his caretaker for over 30 years, died of a stroke.
I loved that truck. But not as much as I truly despised Dick Cheney, the then SecDef, and GHW Shrub for carrying on that fake R. Reagan's damaging "economics", and not supporting the troops nor the Constitution of the United States.
