Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIf Trump's approval rating is at 36%, who are these people?
My contention is that most of the rich support Trump and the GOP for financial reasons.
But the vast majority of Trump supporters, in my view, are racists and/or uninformed.
The racists are easy to sort out. They are the ones who echo Trump's own racist hate speech.
The uninformed are those of whom Abraham Lincoln one said: "you can fool some of the people all of the time".
So my only question is: what percentage are uninformed, and what percentage are racists, and what percentage are both?

(22,124 posts)Perhaps if you grade/rate the supporters on a curve (it would be neat to see), you'll find a sizable chunk ready to bolt ship...how much more do these folks need to see? With real wages actually down despite all of rumps so called claims...evidence seems to counter rump's conclusions, as well as other studies...I'd like to think that we have a good chance of yanking away his uninformed supporters by his continued idiot doings and rantings...
Take care...

(251 posts)I was listening to a trio of DJ's on an Evansville, Indiana radio show this morning and they described it as "all white in Evansville yesterday." They went on to say that they were amazed at how white their city became. I was so happy to hear them talk so openly about every checkout, park, restaurant etc...they were absolutely packed with Caucasian's - "like a sea of mayonnaise."

(4,395 posts)Rich sociopaths - 1%
White supremacists - 10%
People who are "certain" the Rapture will happen during our lifetimes - 27%
Doomsday preppers - 25%
Illiterate people with an IQ under 80 - 7%
Semi-literate people with an IQ under 90 - another 9%
Americans who get their news primarily from friends and family - 60%
Obviously there is some overlap between these groups and not everyone in all of the groups will approve of Trump but I think it gives some indication of who that 36% are.

(14,857 posts)Evangelicals. Remember that 80ish percent of white Evangelicals voted for Trump in 2016. Most of them would enthusiastically do it again, if given the chance.

(34,661 posts)they are using registered voters from 2014 who voted in that mid term. The Numbers are skewed when you look at the method being used. 2014 turn out sucked as we all know so there is your remaining aggregate group that gets polled.
Again, there are variables, landline,Cell Phone lists. Little bit of side bar here, have been phone banking to make sure people are aware of are they registered, who are they supporting, are they planning on voting in November. What I encountered was this, first, the number of registered Dems who have out dated phone numbers, that have canceled land line phones,or have changed cell phone carriers and now have new numbers that are not on their Voter information cards.
Now you understand my criticism of polling being done in the last year or so. So for all those who might by chance read this, please, check your Voter Registration Info, especially if you are registered as a Dem. Most States have on- line info bases that one can up date their info.

(2,955 posts)Basically their line of thought comes down to something like this "I hate liberals, and Trump is doing the best job ever at keeping those damn libturds frustrated so I'm gonna support him no matter what. Vote Trump 2020 and watch half of those damn commie liberal bastards have a heart attack! Yeehah! MAGA BOYS!"
They're the type of person who would rather doom us all then risk helping 'the other team'.

frustrated is what THEY'RE going to be when they have to OWN that reality. I'm fairly certain, it isn't gonna be pretty.
