Many of them suffer the debilitating illnesses of age. Another generation, mine, is beginning to fade, just as its parents' generation has faded almost to invisibility.

Time continues to advance.

I'm well, really, for 73. I see the doctor once a year, who gives me a year's prescription for the blood pressure pills I take. They work great. Still, I scrubbed the bathroom floor and bathtub today, on my knees with a scrub brush and cleaning solution. I waited too long, so it was hard work. When I was done, I felt done. My knees creaked, my hips ached, and I was somewhat out of breath.

There's nothing wrong with me, in particular, but my endurance is noticeably shorter, I'm not quite as strong as I remember being, and working hard physically tires me out much more than it used to.

I can feel it creeping up on me, my age. I see others my age who are in worse shape, by far. At least a dozen members of my graduating class of 100 have died, and others have grave illnesses. Borrowed time is what I have. My genes are good. I know that, since both my parents are still alive at 94 years of age. They can do almost nothing now, though. They're still moving and taking nourishment, but they are shells of what they were.

Soon enough, I will be like them. I'll keep on with as much energy as I can muster, but the die is cast.

I woke up one day and could hardly get out of bed. I have high blood pressure as well, a bad back (fusion), and bad eyes. I just feel like I am making my way back to dust . I am grateful to still be here, many of my relatives died young including my mom.
