Pollster: Undecided independents unlikely to vote

Pollster Dan Cox said on Thursday that independent voters, who are undecided at this point in the midterm campaign, are unlikely to come out and vote in November.

“I think there’s a chance those 38 percent of independents don’t turn out at all. If you haven’t made up your mind at this point, there’s been so much information," Cox told Hill.TV's Joe Concha on "What America's Thinking," referring to the latest American Barometer survey.

"People feel pretty strongly about this president and the direction of the country, rightly or wrongly," he continued.

“So I think for folks who are already independent, which they tend to vote at lower rates than Democrats or Republicans, and they don’t really know where they’re going to go, at this point they may go nowhere," he said.

not vote than cast a vote based on their limited or factually inaccurate understanding. Between uninformed voters and uninformed non-voters, I'd say the latter is preferable and edges the former out slightly when it comes to voting, or not voting, responsibly.

2. Most "independents" I know are pretty much center-leaning right. Middling Rotary or CoC types.

Most are what would have been Republicans who aren't happy with ether the Tea Party or the Religious Reich. They don't understand or care for the world very much once anything goes beyond the local level, so they avoid it - and any politics past what might immediately affect them. They're Laissez Faire people.

They'll vote for the guy or on issues they feel comfortable with, or not vote at all. You can point out the need to vote for something until you're blue in the face, but if they don't "like" any the candidates or issues, they're not going to go to the polls, even to vote against something they know will actively harm them if it passes.

They liked Ike. And maybe they liked Reagan, or Shrub(the first time) - or Carter. Because those candidates made them feel comfortable. So that's when they voted.
Now - too much mud is being slung. They're turned off. They just want to live their lives.

I walked away from someone recently who said that, shaking my head and then turned and called them a fool.

for any able bodied citizen for not voting

Anyone who is "undecided" at this point have no standing to complain or protest anything from the government that produces negative effects on their lifestyle and their way of life

The only statement they are making is they are letting someone else determine their destiny. People like that are spineless invertebrates, and our obviously quite satisfied with that existence

8. People who are undecided really are too unintelligent to vote so I'm OK with that.

Of course, I feel the same about Trumpies but can't do anything about it.
