‘It’s a beautiful thing’: Trump touts GOP candidates, administration’s accomplishments

Air Force One landed Friday at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, bringing President Donald Trump for an afternoon visit to sign an executive order on retirement plans and boost two Republican congressional candidates.

Trump stepped alone off the plane at 2:37 p.m., a few minutes behind schedule, and chatted with a cluster of officials including N.C. members of Congress and Lt. Gov. Dan Forest.

“You doing OK back there?” the president yelled to a crowd waiting on the hot tarmac.

“We’re dying, but we love you!” someone replied.

I don’t think I’ve ever said that about any politician. I may admire them, support them, like them a lot, but “love” is a very strong word. I’ve seen several right wing commenters on social media say that they “love” Trump. What kind of mental gymnastics does that require??
