(6,557 posts)She is an excellent match for Mitch McConnell. My guess the only reason he married her is because of her wealth. Every time the camera caught her today, she was totally uninvolved in what was going on around her. In my opinion she should have stayed home because she wouldn't have been missed - at all!

(11,647 posts)He wasn't invited and yet every speaker talks about McCain's compassion and honor and the elephant in the room is what a douchebag the president is. It's like every single speech is a contrast between McCain's best qualities and what we are all experiencing now.

(6,557 posts)He would have found some way of making it all about him, and would have ruined a very inspirational and classy funeral. I have never used classy and funeral in the same sentence before, but today was exactly that. Thank you, John McCain, for giving America one last gift. The gift of showing exactly who the man in the White House really is with the whole world watching.

(37,648 posts)I'm glad he didn't paint McCain as an angel, and mentioned his anger and other possible faults. But said that McCain was the first to admit he'd made mistakes & has faults.
Good speech. Although I became a little uncomfortable with so many references to the current "situation." Although some of that may have been in my head, since I related so many things these days to the horror in the White House.

(14,494 posts)and the right dosage to use. John Kerry comes to mind with that skill as well.
If anything good comes of this death, perhaps it will be that a few influential Republicans may be awakened and realize it's time to be heard.
