(21,206 posts)Judging from the people who attend their rallies they are not the demographics Nike depends on for profits. Overweight, pasty old white men who are not athletic types.

(6,023 posts)Every time we have bought Nikes for our kids, they have destroyed them in record time. Not so for other brands. Still, at least the company has the decency to support Kaepernick and the cause.

(61,698 posts)Capitalist icon like Nike! Such blatant disrespect for sprinters, pole vaulters, marathoners who wear this beacon of corporatism as they strive for victory on fields of athletic valor! Shame! Shame! Shame!

(3,283 posts)1) They paid for these socks and shoes, so they're not hurting anyone other than themselves when they destroy their clothes. Nike's not going to lose a penny by you defacing something you've already paid them for.
2) Nike is still using sweatshops and union-busting actions in some countries. They're loving this "protest" because it's making them look more palatable to a consumer base that typically shuns their business practices.
3) I appreciate the sentiment in the ad campaign, but it doesn't really accomplish anything unless there's money moving into programs to support people affected by police violence. Otherwise, it smells a lot like exploitation to me.
