Don't the Republicans remember Kathy Hochul winning by running against the Ryan budget?
In a serious blow to the GOP agenda, and, more specifically, Paul Ryans budget plan that would end Medicare as we know it, Democrat Kathy Hochul is projected to be the winner in the New York 26th Congressional District, replacing GOP Rep. Chris Lee who was forced to resign the seat following a scandal.
Prior to Hochul, the District had sent only three Democrats to represent it in the United States Congress since 1857.
While Hochuls opponent, Republican Jane Corwin, had been the clear frontrunner at the outset of the race, Corwins support for the Ryan Budget, and the severe impact the plan would have on Medicare, played a major if not pivotal- role in Hochuls projected victory. Corwin also suffered from a loss of votes to Tea Party candidate, Jack Davis who looks to take between 8% and 9% of the ballots cast.
As the race tightened in recent weeks, outside GOP PAC groups began pouring money into the race, resulting in Corwin outspending the winner 4-1, but it wasnt enough to overcome Corwins paying the price for the unpopular GOP congressional platform.

Put forward a good Democratic candidate, and run against the 1%er tax cuts and Medicare cuts that (Romney-Ryan) Vulture-Voucher advocate, and the Republicans go down in flames.
