It's a verbal attempt to delegitimize the party. Dems need to correct it every single time they say it. Grassley also did it at this official gathering. It is total and complete disrespect and atrocious grammar to boot. Fight back.

Like stripping people of their citizenship based on race, denying passports to US citizens based on race, caging and drugging children while permanently separating them from their parents. Undermining the entire US security aparratus: To name a few. Calling the Democratic party the wrong name is certainly at the bottom of my concerns comparatively.

When you call it the "Democrat Party" it is a very well known right wing slur against the Democratic Party. Like when people talk about "cultural Marxism" they are talking about being against Jewish people.

It is a dog whistle for people on the right.

I am a Democrat. I vote for Democrats. I am a member of the Democratic Party.

a Democrat over something like semantics. We all love Painter's eloquent criticism of Trump, but the man omits the last syllable in the party name and suddenly he's persona non grata forever?

Painter is a good, solid Democrat, he favors abortion rights, gun restrictions, campaign finance reform, stricter banking regs, and believes the environment needs greater protections, he pledged not to accept money from political action committees. He might not run for office again, but we need more spox like Painter.

enough to expel anyone. Dems have always welcomed everyone without any litmus test about former alliances or grammatical perfection. We have any number of red state Dems with voting records that really are Republican bent, so this feigned high dudgeon on Painter's vocabulary is somewhat laughable.

said "democrat" on, I believe, The Beat. Because he has been very consistent in referring to the Democratic party using the correct word for so long I'm giving him a pass.

He had been a life long Republican. I'm sure that like Senators Feinstein or Schummer he has views, especially of the financial industry that I don't agree with. But his core values of governance and social justice are very much aligned with my views and I'm a life long member of the Democratic Party who has pissed off rethug relative when I rudely correct their use of the word "democrat".
