Paul Manaforts attorney, Kevin Downing, made a brief statement on camera as he left US District Court in DC saying Manafort has accepted responsibility and that he wanted to make sure that his family was able to remain safe and live a good life.
Important line from Manafort's attorney. Manafort wanted to make sure that his family was able to remain safe.
Many have speculated what worried Manafort most, and made him slow to cooperate, was Kremlin's practice of going after family members of people who turn against them.

(31,261 posts)People should gladly pay it. Keeping them safe for life will cost less, most likely, than what Trump spends in two months of golf.

(2,466 posts)Whatever manafort has must be really really good. If it's what I think it is, they're going to come after him, or attempt to come after him. Trump has to be collectively shiting his pants right now

(5,810 posts)Wasnt he worried about his family back then? No. Just now when he has had to make nice and deal with Mueller, it dawns on him that maybe his family might be at risk. It is a little late to think about that. Wonder who else is having a case of raging diarrhea over the prospect of the Russians showing them what revenge looks like??

(82,849 posts)Hell, Manafort (whose past includes being in partnership with Roger Stone) even temporarily rehabilitated Mobuto Sese Seko. Manafort has made a very good living cozying up to murderous thugs. Manafort's known all along what his clients are capable of doing, but apparently Mueller's office is even scarier than his clientele.

(16,087 posts)Maybe he should have thought about them, before he put their lives in peril! Instead he was more concerned with filling his pockets, working for the Russians and in selecting Pence as VP!!!
