Trump is their God and he totally disrespects all women.
The Republicans have demonized Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi for 30 years because they are so terrified of strong women leaders.
They are determined to select a SC justice who will roll back women's right to make their own decisions about pregnancy, which shows real contempt for the moral and intellectual ability of women.
WHY DO ANY WOMEN VOTE REPUBLICAN?

(6,366 posts)1) Friends don't let friends vote republican.
2) I don't see how anyone with a daughter, a wife, or a mother can vote republican.
I usually get a chuckle but it's a good ice breaker that's actually created some constructive conversations (and what I would consider to be high likelihood switchers).

(1,308 posts)Both of my nieces are Republicans. One makes plenty of money as an attorney, she is not financially dependent on her husband. The other niece has a job and is also a Republican party official in her state. She is not dependent on anyone but herself.
What they like about the Republican party is keeping as much money for themselves. My bro, their father, is of the same ilk. He looks at Social Security and Medicare as socialist. Whenever we talk he complains about all the money Social Security sends him each month (He's in his 70's). He doesn't need it. He seems to think no one else needs it either. I could go on, but there it is.
At the same time, they are all pro-abortion, except for my bro's wife.
It's all about the money.

(1,997 posts)and in fact this is how the party has developed into what it is today. The greedy ones wanted to have laws which kept the rich from having to give too much of their money to the government. However, they realized that with only 5% or so of the population falling in this demographic, they had to figure out other ways to get votes. Hence the wedge issues, which the greedy ones could care less about, except that they bring in the sheep.
So in my mind, those in the repub party (which I have taken to calling them since they insist on shortening the name of our party), fall into three basic categories: Greedy people who don't care about the welfare of others, or the good of the country (and for whom racism, misogyny, and immoral behavior is just fine if it maintains their financial superiority); those who are actually racist, misogynistic and lacking in basic morals; and the hopelessly gullible who go along with whomever is dominant in their lives.

(32,640 posts)Cheerleading the men, taking care of the men, getting angry on their behalf is what gets you the approval and "protection" of men.
Women, especially young women, buy into the societal notion that their path to any sort of accomplishment is based on men's approval of them.

I remember the moment when I realized that I wasn't going to get anywhere in the business I used to be in unless I had loyal male supporters. It pissed me off, but it was just something that needed to be dealt with. Though that was a couple of decades ago.

(2,042 posts)I realized as a young woman in business that I had to be twice as good to win the respect of older male colleagues. It was satisfying to do so but still...
This was also around the time Bill Clinton was running the first time and I recognized quickly that they hated Hillary because she stood as an equal to her husband. That she as just as smart and accomplished as he was and he respected her. Therefore, she was a threat to their accustomed superiority in marriage and society. How sick is that, right?

(100,087 posts)What is happening now is that they're not only scared of losing their legacy, they are also scared of losing power to the younger generation. So they're doing everything they can to preserve their power before they meet their makers. It's almost like the plot of Sons Of Anarchy.

(90,775 posts)They see themselves as being "too good" for bad things to happen to them. You know, those things that only happen to "bad" women - like rape and abuse.
I've heard them say it - that only a "certain type" of woman gets raped or abused and they will tell you that they are not that type.

Many young women grow past this stage of cheerleading and expressing anger only on behalf of the men in their lives, but so many don't.
Sarah Palin is an excellent example of this thinking on the Right.

(41,987 posts)They play the patriarchal game-individualism, greedy capitalism, aggression, a hierarchy where you get what you can grab. Some grab by association with powerful males, some think theyre the ones who are better because they can play that game rather than promoting a different game, and some believe as the men do, that their failures are due to being cheated by others. They hitch their wagons to more powerful people, usually but not always make, but all who dont question that the way to happiness is Ive got mine and if you dont too bad.
