What the founding fathers did was remarkable, choose one.
Abraham Lincoln saved the nation following the civil war.
Roosevelt saved democracy from tyrany.

Muller may prove to save it once again, or at least we are counting on that.

when Lawrence suggested, whether one agrees with it or not, that [Mueller's] getting 'Manafort to "cooperate" in the [trump] investigations, - may 'have been the worst news Donald Trump has ever received.''

Lawrence really highlighed/underscored the importance of the Manafort cooperation agreement, in a way that anyone can understand - and better appreciate!

We still have no idea how close to the President he will come; I heard on NPR that Manafort's cooperation will not be on Russian meddling. I hope you are right, but I'm too old to have any expectations.

Something was said about the NYC prosecutors in their case against Manafort. Prosecutors are hungry to win. I think Mueller has run an excruciatingly tight investigation. In this day and age, you have to give him credit. There is no other indication, based on how he's managed the prosecution and kept the lid on, that he's not hungry to exact justice.

With the conservative GOP complicit with tRump, Mueller's place in history at this very moment is nothing short of monumental. He and his team may single handedly save our republic.

Manafort’s attorneys relayed to Trump’s what he was telling investigators. If a pardon was dangled - discussed between these attorneys - it’s obstruction of justice. Once Manafort decided to cooperate the joint defense agreement became void so none of the conversations between attorneys are privileged.

This is a big deal.

On the Russian front - why would that topic be off limits regarding cooperation?

The cooperation agreement is not limited.

From the NY Times...

But in court on Friday, Mr. Manafort agreed to an open-ended arrangement that requires him to answer “fully, truthfully, completely and forthrightly” questions about “any and all matters” the government wants to ask about.

hundreds of thousands are ready to protest in 1,000 US cities within hours. I met a stranger yesterday who had the "alert" on her cell phone so she would be ready anywhere, anytime. I have been ready since I signed up last Dec. Nobody Is Above The Law started out with only a few cities and grew into a huge event immediately. MoveOn.org organized it. Sign up at the link and see if one is already planned where you live.

It is a peculiar feature in the Era of Trump™ that people I've been against are now our allies. People like Steve Schmidt, Nicole Wallace, Jennifer Rubin, Max Boot, Ana Navarro, Shepard Smith and many others have become my compatriots in resisting the Trump presidency.

Rod Rosenstein is a particularly important unsung hero for our country. He's stood firm on the rule of law and the definitions of the Department of Justice. He knows everything that Robert Mueller knows. He knows Trump is corrupt and he appointed the ultimate investigator to get him.

It's a frightening condition we're in as a nation. Our Constitutional system is under attack and it's up to a handful of people to save it. Perhaps this is what it felt like during the early years of our country.

If this debacle comes to a democratic and legally culpable conclusion, Rod Rosenstein will also be entitled to a statue.

Of course, he's a Republican.

Gack.
