If so, that's what they are doing. If not, drumpf is telling him to just lie and never stop, he think it works great for him so should for this other lying criminal Russian Repug.

with Dr. Ford out there big time with a certified lie test. Not look good when Republicon's try character issue with Kavenaught and his witness buddy refusing to take one. That refusal will be litigated and decided on the internet, and maybe cable news.

that he's there to withdraw himself, or that the president is asking him to, or the president is telling him that he, the president, is withdrawing the nomination. (Can the president withdraw a nomination?)

With these people, I think it's more likely they're strategizing, or Trump is asking him to recommend some other potential nominee who would support his agenda.

signaled they wanted a delay in the vote (Flake and Corker). I think that is a signal that the votes aren't there (unless a Dem crosses over).

Also Murkowski. I think the goose is cooked.

He probably should have gone with I made mistakes in my youth that I am not proud of defense.

Probably more like this:

Trump: OK, Brett, did you really jump those girls?

Kavanawful: Is this being taped?

Trump: No, I had them all turned off.

Kavanawful: Well, if you must know, yeah, sure I jumped them. Some of them loved it, but some put up a fight.

Trump: THAT'S what I want to hear!! You're my kind of guy, and I will stick with you to the bitter end--of business tomorrow.

Kavanawful: That's not very reassuring.

Trump: I TOLD you, the tapes are not running. We'll cover your ass to the extent that it doesn't endanger mine. That's as good as I can offer you.

Kavanawful: OK, well, maybe I'll still make it.

Trump: If not, I'll still comp you to a long weekend at Mar-a-Lago. If she'll drink this special wine I ordered for her, I'll even throw in Melania.

Kavanawful: That's more like it. OK, you've got a deal.

and it would be out of character for him to do the right thing. More likely, he’ll scheme up more deception as he’s done many times before as a political operative. I expect it will get really nasty now... and that will magnificently backfire on all republicans. No one ever claimed they’re the smart party.

What do we hope to accomplish? Trump is just going to nominate someone way worse than Kavanaugh should he withdraw.

Is there a chance that Dems think they can stall this until after the mid terms and then until January when they might take power in the Senate and then be able to hold the spot open indefinitely? Say to Trump, nominate Merrick Garland, we won't consider anyone else. Is that possible?

Might was well just confirm Kavanaugh then.

Sometimes it's worth it to put up the fight, and show your supporters that you're willing to do that. Was anyone in the Republican camp asking McConnell what his end game was in stonewalling the Garland nomination? No, it was self-evident what he was trying to do, and he succeeded. Pointing out that Kavanaugh lies under oath isn't just an exercise in power politics. It means he's not fit to sit on the federal bench anywhere, let alone the DC Circuit for life.

Either the nom is pulled back or Trump tweets to reassure his base that Kav is a good guy, good man, good father - blah-blah-blah.

Most likely the latter. I would so love to be wrong!
