CBS in talks for miniseries based on Comey book
CBS is in talks for the rights to produce a miniseries based on "A Higher Loyalty," former FBI Director James Comey's memoir of his time in the FBI, including his service under President Trump.
CNBC reported Tuesday that the network is close to a deal for the series's rights after reportedly winning an auction for the story earlier this month.
CBS Television Studios declined to comment to CNBC, but a source close to the negotiations described the auction process as "a highly competitive situation," according to the report.
The former FBI director's memoir was released in April amid fanfare in the press and heated criticism from Trump and the White House, with the president himself calling for the former FBI chief to be "prosecuted" for allegedly leaking classified information, which Comey has denied doing.
Comey's tell-all book was harsh in its criticism of Trump and his administration, describing the president as "unethical" and his leadership style akin to a mob boss.
"This president is unethical, and untethered to truth and institutional values," Comey wrote. "His leadership is transactional, ego driven and about personal loyalty."
