Assuming your question wasn't just rhetorical ... I fault our education system. We're not teaching kids to be skeptical and question authority (can you imagine the response from the religious right if we did?). So they're ripe for propaganda and being suckered by everyone from Wall Street to the "news" industry.

It's been a long time since they've seen the inside of a classroom, the AM Radio in their car melted their brains, it's also why they're so angry all the time.

... and Reagan removing equal-time requirements and latent racism and ... fear. I think the older generation is just more fearful and susceptible to the hate being spewed by the right-wing. The younger folks are exposed to a wider range of ideas, but still can't figure out what information sources should be trusted.

E.g. the average age of a Fox viewer is probably in the 60's, but the idiot white nationalists are a lot younger. We've had lies and propaganda for a long time. It's not going to get fixed until people are taught how to see for themselves how they're being manipulated.

a lot of people go to.
If 95 great local Mexican place all got 1% of the vote and Taco Bell gets 5% they get voted best.
Like Trump, they win without a majority.

Can you imagine—Taco Bell is the best Mexican restaurant?
