His gambling addiction, his $200,000 debt suddenly paid off, his disgusting tactics in the Ken Starr investigation a political operative who designed questions like If (the remarkable Miss L) says that you ejaculated into her mouth on two occasions in the Oval Office area, would she be lying? is not FIT for the Supreme Court.
Maybe he was fueled by jealousy of a man who often seemed to be able to attract willing women in such behavior. A difference between a man like Bill Clinton who seemed genuinely interested in women, who displayed warmth and engagement in them as people; whereas a woman is turned off by a guy like Kavanaugh who thinks only of himself, or who views sex as a shameful dirty act to be forced on someone when one is drunk. I may not be expressing it right, but the hypocrisy of the GOP reminds me of certain cultures that view women as dirty and dont believe a woman in court unless she has two adult male witnesses confirming her story.
The assault case is important, but we also need discussions about the money, the gambling, and about the grotesque political operations he has involved himself in, and his likely position on ACA or the environment or Social Security. What court cases are likely to be revisited, and rights to privacy or consumer protections are taken away?
On edit: the point about Kavanaughs role in the Ken Starr travesty is that Kavanaugh threw all bounds of decency, compassion and propriety out the window, simply for partisan gain. That involvement alone should be disqualifying in any sane society, as it showed exceedingly BAD JUDGMENT and intensely partisan purposes.

They will confirm him no matter what, their dream to pick up the paper and read about a woman dying in a back alley who had sex without their permission is far too valuable to them...

(18,402 posts)Like they used it to prevent Obama from even getting a hearing for Merrick Garland for more than a year. They'd push this thing through before the midterms if Jack-the-Ripper were the candidate, or the head of the Klan.
Talk about hopeless.

(7,888 posts)I could contribute to the conversation. Please, leave Ms. Lewinsky alone.
You did not intend to disparage Democrats, but...on a personal bias, I distrust your motives. imo

(16,187 posts)I felt squeamish about using it, actually. I have plenty of respect for her.
I find what Ken Starr did to her to be 150 times worse than what Bill did. Maybe more than 150 times.
My personal bias is in favor of consenting adults should be left alone.
What Ken Starr AND KAVANAUGH did was vicious, sick, inhuman and misogynist, and Machiavellian.
The fact that Kavanaugh supported or drove pieces of that disgusting attack is very relevant. It was a type of public sexual assault on a woman for the gain of the GOP.
It was the epitome of POOR JUDGMENT.
