https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/20/politics/texas-republicans-hindu-theme-campaign-ad-trnd/index.html
The India Herald, a Texas news outlet, published this ad by the Fort Bend County Republicans.
(CNN)To attract Indian-American voters, a Republican party group in suburban Houston released a campaign ad with an image of Ganesha, the elephant-headed Hindu deity.
Published in the India Herald newspaper and sponsored by the Fort Bend County Republican Party, the ad played on the animal symbols for the Democratic and Republican parties. It read: "Would you worship a donkey or an elephant? The choice is yours."
The ad was published on September 12, a day before the start of Ganesh Chaturthi, a 10-day Hindu festival which celebrates the birth of Ganesha.
Now, after a backlash from Hindu-Americans who said the ad was inappropriate, the Fort Bend Republicans have issued an apology, saying they never intended to offend anyone.

GOP is so racist and dumb that Dems might be able to make Texas blue again. Watch for them to try and suppress the votes of US citizens by claiming that "if you look like an H-1b then you can't be allowed to vote" or similar nonsense.

Insulting other religions is not saying much about your belief in yours. You said it, "foolish".

Now there's a contradiction in terms for you. An apology from a
rethuglican has no meaning. It is just so many empty words.

thing and so foolishly and unnecessarily insulting. Wonder if they now realize they need to take the next step to bring Indian Americans IN, who can join in planning these things.
But not only did they obviously not intend to offend them, interestingly, they also obviously don't believe this openness to Indian Americans would unduly offend their white Christian voters.
