canvasser pay me a visit. He must not have seen the Bredesen sticker on my truck so I stopped him in his pitch and told him Im voting straight Democratic ticket. I asked him if he was having much luck in these Republican neighborhoods and he said a lot of people say dont tell anybody but Im voting for Bredesen. Pretty cool!

(638 posts)538 still is favoring blackburn even though the polls seem to be saying bredesen is in the lead. I'm going to be giving money to him, heidkamp in north dakota, nelson in florida, jacky rosen in nevada and of course beto in texas.
My dream is to get to 54 seats with a stunner in mississippi in a special election after the main election in november. That would put me over the moon.

(14,565 posts)I have no idea why C-SPAN isn't showing as many debates this cycle. Fortunately some locals in each race have been dependably posting links.

The debate itself doesn't begin until more than 26 minutes into the video.
Overall it's easily the most civil debate I've seen this cycle. Both obeyed the debate format instead of stepping over the other's words or trying to squeeze in an extra comment. Bredesen was relaxed and matter of fact, doing very well overall including on health care. But he certainly played to the state he represents, unlike Beto the other night who sounded like he could have been speaking in any state. Both candidates spent the early going campaigning against Chuck Schumer.
I haven't been optimistic about this race due to high number of conservatives in Tennessee but maybe I'm wrong. Blackburn certainly seemed to be scared of how the race stands, referencing Hillary and Obama frequently along with the familiar assertion that voting for a Democrat means repeal of the 2nd Amendment. Bredesen was like the wise soft spoken elder professor.

(31,011 posts)That style is why he got so much done as governor. He works across the aisle.
He's kept the race about TN and has campaigned hard for some time now not taking anything for-granted.

I sat in a hospital waiting room a while back and several people said they couldn't stand Blackburn. It surprised me.
Fortunately, a lot of folks remember Bredesen being a good governor.
No matter what 538 says, I think his chances are 50/50. Crossing fingers.
