Kavanaugh’s Yale Classmates Remember Him as ‘a Sloppy Drunk’

Around a dozen former Yale classmates of scandal-hit Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh have said they remember the now federal jurist as a heavy drinker, disputing his claim that he never drank to the point of blacking out. Classmates spoke to both The New York Times and The Washington Post, with some saying they were annoyed by Kavanaugh's “choir boy” act during his interview with Fox News. “Brett was a sloppy drunk, and I know because I drank with him. I watched him drink more than a lot of people. He’d end up slurring his words, stumbling,” said Liz Swisher, who described herself as a friend of Kavanaugh’s in college. Lynne Brookes said her memory of Kavanaugh is very different to how he described himself on Fox News this week, saying: “He’s trying to paint himself as some kind of choir boy.” The Times said it spoke to nearly a dozen people who knew Kavanaugh at college who recalled that he was a heavy drinker.

Was it that he was and continues to be at war with himself. An attempt to drown out his conscience perhaps. He seems to have lead a double life. He submerges himself in extremely conservative Catholicism yet appears by testimony that he was into gambling and heavy drinking.

Having been raised a Catholic, I can attest to the deep and debilitating affect of guilt that the church instilled in young people. I think there is something dramatically wrong with this man that is not being revealed. The determination of the Republicans to not reveal his work in the White House to prosecute Clinton could be especially revealing as to his mental condition. The influence of Catholic upbringing can have devastating affects. It is difficult for non-Catholics to comprehend the hold that the church had on the psychic of young people. The vast majority of Catholics, thanks to Pope John XXIII who opened up the church to deep reflection, have been able to literally escape the burden of guilt that they were shouldered with. Let me assure non-Catholics what took place for the vast majority of Catholics. Our family and friends have attested to the awakening as if it was like a unbearable burden of guilt had been magically lifted from their most inner self. Literally over night they could regard themselves and not some hopeless sinful creature but normal healthy human beings with the normal frailties shared by all mankind. When the church hierarchy attempted to turn back the clock, the doors to the nunneries, rectories swung open and their was a massive exodus as millions of laity joined the parade of liberation.

I am deeply troubled by those, who have rather than welcoming the liberation from a oppressive culture, to have doubled down refusing to recognize but rather becoming protectors of harmful practices. I don't have the training to be able to comprehend this phenomena. But I can assure you, that it is far from what I would consider as normal based on what I virtually every member of my family and circle of friends have concluded.

We cannot allow any other evidence or witnesses to taint this process. We just want to hear two people with opposite stories about what happened then get on with the vote!

IOKIYAR. When Democrats take back Congress they need to investigate every Republican on the judiciary committee for wrongdoing. I don't give a damn if they can't make any legal charges stick, put them on TV and expose those cockroaches for what they did. Put them on TV and show how they connived to put a monster on the SC. Republicans had how many Benghazi hearings? We need to win back the House and Senate. Vote. We can do it.

Your thoughts need to be passed to many people now, and make sure to remind us all, after the election to let the Democratic majority know what they have to do as you have laid out for them.
