what galls me is how republicans can't even allow a sliver of conditional doubt.

they're all supporting kavanaugh and finding ways to distort, dismiss, minimize, etc., trying to pave the way to confirmation regardless.

how is it that they can't even say something like, "i support kavanaugh and believe him to be innocent, but if these are serious accusations and we wouldn't want anyone guilty of such things on the supreme court."

they can't say that because they have to allow for the possibility that he's shown *convincingly* to be guilty *and* then they will vote to put him on the supreme court anyway.

they are so insanely partisan that they can't even bring themselves to say that *if* someone committed assault, kidnapping, and attempted rape that gee, maybe they shouldn't have a lifetime job on the highest court of in the land....

Roy Moore was a perverted scumbag....they supported him to the bitter end.
Brett Kavanaugh is just the latest example, but the song remains the same....IOKIYAR.

and then we'll do exactly what we meant to do all along--ruin the lives of women and others far into the future after we're dead. Now that's power!"

3. The GOP has rid itself of any sense of moderation since the Tea Party was founded.

As soon as the Tea Party came about, there was only one way left: Forward. Forward at full speed, without any doubts and as fast as you can.

What happened to Republican moderates? They got primaried out of the GOP.

Nowadays, the only kind of people left in the GOP are ideological fanatics (e.g. Cruz), power-hungry nihilists (e.g. McConnell) and spineless sycophants (e.g. Lindsey Graham).

The GOP cleansed itself of normal people many years ago.

5. in a way, her accusations might have been more damaging if she left out the attempted rape part.

i wonder, had she "merely" accused him of grabbing her from the hallway and dragging her into a bedroom, closing the door, having a friend help, turning music way up to drown out the screams, put a hand over her mouth, and threaten *unspecified* violence....

maybe that would have "played" more effectively.

i think once it becomes a "rape allegation", it triggers all kinds of pre-programmed thoughts, most of them dismissive, in the brainwashed masses, that aren't necessarily triggered by an accusation of violence.

then again, she's still a woman, so maybe they'd be dismissive all the same....

6. Conservatives don't tend to do conditional, they're binary.

With us or against us, black/white, good/evil. It's why they are so hypocritical, they need to be in order to support their binary worldview.
