and therefore wouldn't have been part of Kav's "social group." She deliberately put the victim's testimony into question, as in why would this public school student even be at such an elitist party. Wow, what a right wing hack!

(23,946 posts)Take off you tunnel vision glasses, all of you. I for one refuse to let you turn this into a beyond reasonable doubt burden of proof on the women issue...usually there is an investigation of criminal accusations before the criminal trial, Mitchell...you can Google that!
Once again demonstrating the MSM is totally clueless as to the difference between criminal law and character assessment.

So they often have public school friends from the neighborhood

(65,042 posts)My cousins grew up in my house when their parents died.
I went to a prep school. My parents couldn't afford to send all the kids to prep school, so they went to public school.
Guess which parties my cousin and i went to in common! ALL OF THEM!
Idiot.

(10,021 posts)Seriously, she mentioned they targeted the shy and perhaps a bit inexperienced/socially awkward but screwable girls.
I have heard that many guys just looking to get laid do this.

(12,265 posts)But was often invited to the rich kids house parties in the city close to our town. I went once, after that I refused. I met the son of the President of a large company in our county and he kept insisting I attend of of these things. After one, that was quite enough, I didn't have parents who could buy me out of that kind of trouble.

(85,996 posts)...it's minutes from Rockville to Gaithersburg, and mobile kids like Kavanaugh could party from one end to the other.
I grew up there. Partied all summer at Potomac, Rockville, and, less frequent, Gaithersburg. But it wasn't as developed in G-burg in my time, a generation earlier than Kavanaugh.
Never saw or heard of any sexual assaults. Not unusual, though, because I was not only as sexually naive as Kavanaugh was claiming to be, I was also remarkably (lamentably) uninitiated in anything resembling sex most of my youth.
Got pretty damn high, though. Always a keg or two at the Potomac (Bethesda) parties. Out of control, trashed houses in almost every party. Crazy days.

(2,959 posts)friends at the time went to public schools in nearby east bay towns.
All of our parties included kids from all sorts of local schools.
Matter of fact thanks to Facebook most of us have been reunited in recent years. In the largest group of around 700 people there are at most 50 that I don't recognize as being familiar with. Which kind of amazes me but we had some massive parties up in the east bay hills in those days.
I'm sure Ms. Mitchell is mistaken and should issue a "I take it back". Oh wait, I think most of learned by kindergarten that you can't take stuff back.

(41,963 posts)No matter what is true, the optics of an ordinary girl who is drugged and raped by a bunch of prep school predators carries some serious power.
I hate to sound cold because I dont really think theres a difference, but right now Ill take the spin.
