McTurtle, Grossly and Hack (AKA McConnell, Grassley and Hatch) don't want to go down on the Senate floor, and they know that if Kavanawful withdraws his name at this late date, it will mean the same thing--a huge embarrassment to the Republicans, even if four hours later, none of them will even admit to having ever heard the name Kavanaugh. If he is rejected or withdraws, his name will be on Republican lips about as much as was the name Spiro Agnew on October 11, 1973.

An animal is at its meanest when wounded and cornered. It may be looking good, but the country hasn't dodged this bullet yet.

They won't even hold the vote unless McTurtle is positive it will go in his favor. In their eyes, better no vote that one that goes against them.

The only reason McTurtle would hold the vote knowing he'd lose would be if he saw some kind of political advantage in it. I couldn't imagine there being one for him at this point.
