2. On a normal day I don't, but on a day like this...

when I am about to post something, I use this method to see if it has already been posted (a search doesn't bring up results that quick). I try to kick the first thread on the topic... dupes clutter GD.

4. You have to click on "Start time" in GD.

It isn't permanent (the default is "Last reply" ).

5. Thanks. My biggest problem is Latest Breaking News

Before I post to Latest Breaking News I do a 'search'.
Seeing nothing, I post.

Then I sometimes get shut down due to a previous post of the same topic.

You can also sort by author (I occasionally use this if I remember someone posting something I liked, but couldn't find it by the search function).
