This particular thread has well over 400 comments in it.
"Trump is doing great. This is way better than a rally - hes speaking truth directly to the enemy."
"Hes just getting warmed up! I could watch another hour of this!"
"Press is making fools of themselves.
President Trump is the adult in the room.. Such a down-to-earth Brilliant man."
"GO PRESIDENT GO ! ! ! !
He has the press running in circles..... falling all over their self-righteousness and false piety
What a wonderful and beautiful thing to watch....!

"Thats MY president!
Damn Im so proud that he is president of my country!!"
"What a joy it is to see, not a Republican or a Democrat President, but rather an American President."
"Yes, he is right up in their faces. All the other presidents would be hiding. Weve never in recent history had a president willing to speak his mind. Ah, he just caused the Democrats and media to p155 their pants saying I will or could nominate more supreme court justices."
These supporters of Trump are so blind and deluded that there is absolutely no chance on convincing them to abandon Trump.

Our son once dated a very pretty and charming (only on surface as it turned out!) girl who believed a resistance was using The X-Files to slip secret messages out to the populace. The evil government was clueless, of course. She and her parents moved to either white WV or white Kentucky to avoid dying in the collapse with the rest of us. She'll have passed on those genes by now.

(1,975 posts)This is what really scares me. I always force myself to watch FOX, just so I know what his base is thinking. After his bizarre otherworldly press conference, and FOX news was right there playing their 3 card Monty game. Lie, blame, shame, and shift it so the viewers are cheering Trump on. He was talking directly to his base, his message was clear. To them, this is nothing more than a con game by Schumer and his gang of people who are in that room laughing about all this.

These people are beyond help. They show the affect of the GOP propaganda machine that works through FOX, Limbaugh, Drudge, Hannity and their ilk, 24/7. It is very effective.

(2,678 posts)Trump was right; China got involved and rigged the election for the Democrat Party. I dont care what they say, so long as the Democratic Party does, indeed, take control of Congress. At least the House. Im nervous about this election only because of the cheating ways of the Re-Thug-Lie-Con party. 👿👺

(58,785 posts)of the cold war and the red menace. John Bircher, Tea Party, trumpster, authoritarian types like this always know, though, that there's some huge enemy they must destroy before they are destroyed.
With direction from people like Newt Gingrich and others in the background, their fear and hostility were turned inward to domestic enemies and threats -- the Democratic Party and liberalism, as embodied at the time of course by poor Bill and Hillary Clinton. Astonishing then but all too understandable in retrospect, Bill became their surrogate for the black menace and was tagged with every racist cliche out there. He was stupid, lazy, shiftless, and dirty. He murdered, dealt drugs, vandalized the White House, and even raped a white woman.
They unleashed these hoards and have used them to some advantage, but they don't control them.
Senator Jeff Flake yesterday:
These past two years, we have tested the limits of how low we can go. And my colleagues, I say to you that winning at all costs is too high a cost. If we cannot have a human rather than a political response to these witnesses, if we are heedless to the capacity that we have to do real and lasting damage, then maybe we shouldnt be here.
... One man, somewhere in the country, called my office in Arizona and left a message saying that he was tired of me interrupting our president and that for the offense of allowing Dr. Ford to be heard, for this offense, me and my family would be taken out.
I mention this with reluctance, but only to say that we have lit a match, my colleagues. The question is, do we appreciate how close the powder keg is? ..
After writing this message of concern, assured McTurtle that he was a yes vote for Kavanaugh.
I made that up but have no doubt he will continue to vote in direct contradiction to his flowery words.

(58,785 posts)they've been doing and a serious warning. His entire speech has been published by multiple sources, and that's not because it was the usual nothing.
Of course, his words would have been more admirable had he said them long ago when he wanted to be able to be reelected, but not necessarily more sincere.

(33,349 posts)I strongly disagree with Sen. Flake's position on just about everything regarding governing, but he does not seem to be a soulless power monger. He may be a throwback conservative Republican -- before the infection spread by Atwater and the disease made apparent in Reaganites.

(3,064 posts)Have they made any tech improvements at all or are they still running like it's 1999? Way back in the early days of DU there'd be some posting of Freeper threads and their site was so shabby compared to ours.
They had a larger membership but Earl, Skinner, and Elad put the money and talent into making this a real gem of a website. I'm sure our membership now exceeds theirs in quantity and always has in quality.
And it shows. Been some contentious times but damn we've got some brilliant people posting here.
Is JimBob/RimJob still sniveling for bucks that don't go to site upkeep?

(22,976 posts)They really would. Listen to them! They want blood and are delusional. How any sane person could catch an I gotta vote for you! vibe off #45 just staggers the imagination. The chief dimwit is so embarrassingly see-through(I was thrying to make em laugh, No collusion) that hes downright embarrassing.
His little mind takes twists and turns that are downright demonic: pitting Americans against each other; making serious income from his public office; cozying up to the worlds dictators; sending boatloads of money upstream to the wealthy (and himself); all of it in an in-your-face, Im showing the enemy my bare red backside fashion.
Hes lit a time-bomb to the economy, laid waste to every rule, protocol and tradition, and has chewed up whatever shreds of civil discourse that were still extant. But of this much I am certain: he is amoral, and cares ONLY about himself. He he is absolute POISON to democracy.
Robert Reich is correct, if Democrats cant hold Republicans in check come November, the LIGHTS WILL BE GOING OUT. So,

If you thought that was good, then you probably have similar qualities?
Words have meaning. There are words of unity and there are words of division. Donald Trump (and his supporters) excel in words of division.

(8,133 posts)It's the only thing that gives me solace about the miserable state of this country. The first President I really remember was JFK and they said the Kennedys were a part of "Camelot." Of course, he was assassinated, but we still had hope back then.
