Anyhow, when this 26 yrs of experience prosecutor was questioning the sexual assault nurse about slight redness on the girl's cervix, he proudly asked the following:
Isn't it true that this redness is different from what you would see from an urinary tract infection?
I turned to him and loudly said, "Paul, we don't pee out of our vaginas!"

As for the prosecutor, a number of colleagues have pointed out that investigation is always done first, and prosecutors then have the findings not just to work with but to decide if they should proceed at all. She's flying blind on wings of political purpose, and her colleagues have scant sympathy for her because they consider this highly unethical.

(14,565 posts)Simple reason. Mitchell actually asks questions and allows Dr. Ford to speak, and Ford comes across superbly well, as a sweet sincere woman doing her best to remember and describe.
I have not been impressed with our senators at all, and especially during this post-break session. It is one monologue after another. Kamala Harris apparently believes she is running for president right here and now but it is essentially a full waste of the 5 minutes. Harris didn't allow Dr. Ford to speak at all.
Pathetic. Beyond pathetic. When highlights of this session are shown tonight, Dr. Ford will be shown. Her words. Not Kamala Harris' words. Harris just threw away 5 full minutes.
If our senators wanted to monologue for 5 minutes at least cut it to 4:45 and then end by asking Dr. Ford if she was 100% certain that it was Brett Kavanaugh. Then allow Dr. Ford to repeat that emphasis again. At least that would accomplish something.

(14,565 posts)We are butchering the handicapping. Nobody cares about our senators and nobody is going to remember their long windup questions. It's like everybody on that panel wants to emulate Rachel Maddow...rinse and repeat.
Dr. Ford is the gem. Dr. Ford is the star. Dr. Ford can prevent Kavanaugh. For every second our senators speak that removes another opportunity for a memorable sentence or facial expression or emotional moment from Dr. Ford.
It is absolutely asinine but we tend to fail to understand basics like this
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)her back to the speeding-up rat-tat-tat from the prosecutor.
And America's had all the sweet moments needed to get the right impression. Too many risk turning into an OD -- and of course always risk a slip. Not because she's dishonest, just because something could finally happen that they could get their hands on and twist into something more than it is.
Think about it. And remember these are pros, and you are not.
Btw, I read that Kavanaugh, choir boy that he's always been, considers always being humble a very important principle. Even keeps a reminder close by.
The prosecutor just said "We're almost done," and Dr. Ford breathed a grateful "Thank you."
