(4,305 posts)I remember the drinking age getting lowered shortly after I turned 18 and then returned back to 21 shortly after I turned 21. That was way before his drinking days.

Only when using his name does Washington DC show up numerous times.
I'm guessing with Bethesda close to DC that he and his buddies would go to DC and buy their beer.

(12,132 posts)I remember always being legal once I hit 18 as Texas didn't raise the minimum age to 21 until after I was 21. and I remember my cousin, who was a year younger being miffed that I was legal while he was not as he turned 18 a few months after they raised the raised the minimum age. So he had friends that were grandfathered in - if you were legal when it was raised, you got to stay legal - but he had to wait the whole 3 years..
I turned 18 in 1981 and I'm not sure when Maryland did all their age raising.
But the main point I guess is that if MD was anything like TX with regard to beer, it was reeeealllly easy to get no matter what. I had been buying it since I was 17 and my friend since he was 16 (he looked much older than me anyway) and no matter WHEN we started buying beer, neither me, my cousin or my friend ever tried to rape anyone.
