Disregarding today's clusterfuck, how would you feel about having someone like Kavanaugh

in the Supreme Court?

Would you feel comfortable if a Supreme Court decision was narrowly decided, and the deciding vote was Brett Kavanaugh?

He's worthless as a deciding vote because nobody will respect him or his decision.

He is toast even if he makes it to the SC.

There is no “that ruling doesn’t count because nobody respects vote #5” standard

The constitution works, only because we chose to believe that the rules set out in it apply to all.

As soon as people start questioning that precept, we are totally fucked.

Do SC rulings only apply to us if we respect all 9 judges?

I'm only 60, so I expect to vote against those bastards for a long damn time- at least 30 years. Once upon a time, I actually shook Tricky Dick's hand. Yeah, I was young and thought of myself as a "young Republican" at the time. It was my parent's influence on me, before I learned to think for myself. Pot does that.

I will spend the rest of my life convincing my contemporaries that they are wrong.

because of his history as a partisan political operative and his extreme, out of the mainstream even for conservatives, views on the unitary executive. The allegations of Dr. Ford and the other women mean that in addition to be a judicial extremist he's also a misogynistic, alcoholic douchebag; but even if he wasn't he'd still be an unfit candidate for the court.

except as a "vote like Scalia" certainty.

Kavanaugh is too entitled to be quiet and passive like that. He'll be nasty and loud and vicious, like Scalia without the humor.

Thomas will be happy that he will finally NOT be the worst/most notorious justice on the court.
