Kamala Harris had golden question but butchered the application

I was at the Canes/North Carolina football game tonight so apologies if this has already been covered.

I was screaming in traffic en route to the game when Harris mangled the question to Kavanuagh regarding whether or not he watched Dr. Ford's testimony before his own. That was absolutely the perfect angle of attack but somehow Harris had no clue how valuable it was or how to set it up. I couldn't believe she threw it in toward the end of her time block, almost as an aside.

You might as well throw gold out the window.

An innocent person absolutely watches that testimony. Every second of it. Copious notes. Makes it the top priority. Structures and alters his opening statement solely based on what Dr. Ford said. After all, this is an outrageous claim out of nowhere out of 36 years. Who is this woman? What could she possibly be accusing me of? I've seen snippets in the press but here is the actual accuser and every detail. Maybe I can figure out who she could be confusing me with. I can counter anything and everything she says. Since I am in the catbird seat going second without a Dr. Ford followup window the last word will be my own.

But a guilty person doesn't want to be reminded. A guilty person thought this would never surface again. A guilty person can't stand to look at the face of the woman he victimized. He can't stand to hear a voice he might remember, or any gesture or idiosyncrasy common to Dr. Ford. A guilty person knows he can't counter a truthful summary from his accuser so he totally ignores it and embraces the Roy Cohn/Donald Trump method of savaging anyone in his path, truth be damned, since only the bottom line matters.

I was really shocked Kamala Harris blew it to such extent. It was a one-time deal and can't be resurrected. Kavanuagh would have been squirming and stumbling if this had been structured properly. She should have opened by asking him how much time he spent on preparation for his testimony. He would no doubt have been proud to detail it. Get that in there to establish how important it was to him, that he didn't merely wing it upon sitting down. Then ask the gotcha question about watching Dr. Ford beforehand. You don't know what he'll say but just in case he offers the version a guilty person would offer...you've got him. From that point, lay it out similarly to how I did earlier...the contrasting ways an innocent party and guilty party logically would have dealt with preceding testimony.

It could have changed the way the day was remembered, IMO, and especially the latter half. Anyone who would place themselves in position of falsely accused of something so horrific from so long ago knows damn well they would have watched every second of that accuser, if in position to immediately follow them in testimony on the same stage.

I can only refer to the OP. I described it there as fully as needed.

I don't think Kamala had any clue what she had. She thought of the question but had too many other things in mind, to the point she didn't handicap the value properly.

IMO, a full 5-minute time block focusing on his potential answer to that question alone was by far the best method to point out that Kavanaugh was likely lying throughout.

I mentioned this to two people at the football game tonight and both of them agreed with me...that an innocent person watches every second of his accuser's account.

To me it's just another example of the way that Democrats tend to show up at gun-fights with the GOP ... with a rusty pocket-knife.

It's very often depressing to witness ... no argument on that account.

Guess 'we' decided to 'go high' on this one.

I'm sure it'll 'pay off in the end'.

I thought she played that perfectly and after watching Rachel I know I was right.
If he had watched it, he would have had to change the part about her 'unwell' friend who apologized for her lawyer's incorrect response.

It didn't help that Kavanaugh wouldn't answer yes or no questions. And instead, by design I'm sure, would eat up the clock with nonsense.

I was at work and wasn't able to listen to all of today's hearing. I heard more of the first half than the second half. But the portion of Kavanaugh's testimony that I did hear, combined with the post-hearing coverage on MSNBC, made me hate that man almost as much as I hate Trump.

I almost ran into the back of a truck on the Palmetto Expressway en route to the game. I was listening on NPR.

I was so thrilled someone finally asked that question, and that Kavanuaugh provided the answer that meant he was guilty. But the timing could not have been worse...from our final senator and at the end of her block.

Otherwise one of our subsequent senators might have been sharp enough to follow up on it.

The process was indeed an absolute joke.

could have made it the focus of her 5 minutes. When he responded he hadn't watched the testimony, the logical follow up would have been "Why not?" which would have required further explanation. As it was, Grassley's 5 minute rule, designed to make certain there would be no in depth discussion, constrained the Democrats. After getting rid of their female assistant mid-stream, the R's dropped all pretense that this was a hearing to discern the truth of an allegation of sexual assault. Instead, it became the shameless endorsement of an alcoholic predator Republican hack by a bunch of corrupt knuckle draggers masquerading as public servants.

And when Durbin was making Kavanaugh appear flustered, Graham knew it was time to strike.

After Dr. Ford's very credible testimony, Republicans knew desperate times called for desperate measures. It was never about discerning the truth.

It's all her fault that she blew this one question, and now he'll be confirmed. Just blame the democrats!

I marvel at how many women have "no clue" which is a phrase that is almost exclusivly aimed at women.
