It's gonna be my kids (35 and 37) and their kids that will feel the full brunt of what's happening now.
I am disheartened that they are apathetically apolitical.
I am disheartened that their age group and younger don't vote.
Will that change this cycle?
I hope so for their sake.

(23,319 posts)yesterday. We were biking up to a community farm to get our weekly farm share...she asked me what Id been doing with my day and I told her that I had been glued to the hearing and she said what hearing? Yeah..she said that. Anyway, after I told her what hearing, she responded that she cant even...its all too much. To which I agreed that it is too much but whats ahead of us now will make this all pale in comparison particularly for women and girls. Kabenugh will be gunning for people like us. Told her that our kids and their kids will bear the cost of this being too much for so many Americans. Im finding it increasingly difficult talking to people who have totally unplugged because this is all too much.

(15,805 posts)promoted to the one party court from which there is no appeal or redress. The country will not recover in my lifetime (I'm older than you) and I have no hope that it will get any better for the next generation or even the one after that because my that time the new mores and norms of American culture and society will have been permanently, and irrevocably, changed forever.

(24,736 posts)and our only daughter, 26, is HIGHLY politicized!
We are all strong progressives, including Dad. We have worked on and donated to campaigns. She wouldn't THINK not to vote!
She has a BA in Environmental Policy. Was an Americorps volunteer the year after college. Is a Montessori teacher in Montana at a school with an outdoor emphasis. Volunteers with a teen youth empowerment program. She lives in a small studio apartment and isn't concerned with having nice, new things. In her free time she fly fishes, hikes, and skis. Single.
Very proud of her (obvious?) Just wanted to spread a little sunshine. I am also very worried and sad for her. Disappointed she was born into a world and country in decline.

(9,267 posts)Thankfully both my kids are left like me and pretty vocal about it. My daughter is having a scheduled c-section Election week and just applied for an absentee ballot. Sons fiancé claims to not care about politics and her parents are Trumpers (devout Catholic fetus-worshippers). Shes marrying into the family so shell get with the program eventually.
