It will be a supreme irony if a question from Mitchell ends up key to Kavanaugh's confirmation

Mitchell was hired by the Republicans to put a woman’s face and voice front and center at the questioning of Dr. Ford. The last thing they wanted was video and audio of all of the male Republicans pressuring Dr. Ford. They paid Mitchell to bring her prosecutorial skills to bear on Dr. Ford.

They kept Mitchell in to question Kavanaugh to create the illusion that they were being ‘fair.’ That all stopped when she asked her question about Kavanaugh’s July 1st calendar entry and Lindsay Graham abruptly and bombastically redirected the process away from Mitchell and back to the Republican Senators.

Exactly. Great summary. And so ironic that it was the ringer the Republicans hired who did this. suffragette Sep 2018 #7

I had not thought about that. Certainly possible and it was a very Trumplike move. suffragette Sep 2018 #11

to his fellow Republicons, to shame them into getting on board with his position. I agree, taking the focus away from someone who looked and acted like the principal's secretary in "Ferris Buehler's Day Off" may indeed be the key to this confirmation. She wasn't getting anywhere with her nit-picking, and he finally showed a side of him that was not meek, which must have been a surprise to a lot of GOP'ers.

We will see if Collins and Murkowski respond as Graham has requested them to do.

I did perceive a mild threat. But, I suppose it might be tough to take a threat from him seriously.

Still, I've read that since McLame died, Graham has been a bit more forceful.

and Ford's timeline with the party and Mark Judge both fit with the calendar and Mark Judge's writings about working at the grocery store that summer for money to attend the late August sports camp.

Also Ford named the person who introduced her and Brett at the country club weeks earlier and stated that she had attended at least 5 previous parties where Brett and friends were in attendance and that he had not acted inappropriately (so naturally she had no reason to avoid him until the assault)

...who told him to "Shut this down immediately!"

The way Graham went on the attack changed the entire thrust of Kavanaugh's testimony. They were all on the attack after that, no more tears, no more frowns. Cheeto will take the credit for this, just watch.
